Ross Report for Week 0, March 2001

Updated: May 5, 2021

Random thoughts from under the black Resistol hat...

Readers will undoubtedly be scrambling for information regarding today's happenings in the World Wrestling Federation. Allow me to set the record straight.

Chris Benoit is an incredible talent and we are sad to see him go. However, the man has earned a break with how dilligently he has been working not only here in the WWF, but in other promotions as well. Chris and the WWF parted ways amicably and there was no bad blood involved - although I fully expect the dirtsheets to state the contrary.

Our other big releases today are Haku, TAKA Michinoku and Funaki. We have been supporting all three guys with their attempts to compete in Japan and we are happy to see them walking from one company to another. Guaranteed work for guys as talented as these can only be seen as a good thing.

Things have been rough this week for Right to Censor and I tip my hat to their focus and dedication. Ivory has been sidelined with an injury, sustained during a live event last week, and will be unable to compete at WrestleMania. Though we do not currently have plans to vacate the Women's Championship, plans for its defence have been put on hold for now. As for Bull Buchanan (a great prospect with a huge upside) and The Goodfather (an invaluable veteran with great ring experience), they have been relocated to our developmental system in order to bolster tag team competition in Ohio Valley Wrestling. As for Steven Richards and Val Venis, they will continue to perform as active WWF talent, on televison and at live events. I think we're about to see a scary new focus from Steven and Val now that their numbers have been cut.

The positive feedback to last month's No Way Out event continues to roll in, putting us in a great position before WrestleMania. The next few episodes of Raw and SmackDown are going to be special and I cannot wait to see how the Mania card comes together. It's going to be an exciting night in Houston when the WWF puts on the biggest show of the year.
